Between college and subsequent career, I've dedicated over 15 years of my life to something with absolutely nothing to show for it.

I got lucky and absolutely love the job itself, but working in corporate America is a nightmare.

The degree and career field I chose, software development, were based on the salary being enough to give my son the life I never had.

I can barely afford groceries and bills, much less afford college for my son, or even consider retirement.
I've been laid off 4 times over the past 6 years.

Fun Fact: I found out a couple of years ago, not a single employer ever verified I actually had a degree.

I still owe money on a student loan for a degree I believed was necessary to accomplish my career goals.

I'm a single mom who worked full time while going to school full time so I could get this must have degree.

In an effort to obtain this so-called, "American Dream", I've been hearing so much about my whole life, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and stop hoping I'll eventually find a dream job that doesn't suck the life out of me. That dream is officially dead and categorized as an urban myth.

Once upon a time, I considered going to culinary school to become a pastry chef. I don't consider myself to be particularly talented, but I always get rave reviews from people, and there's never any leftovers at office potlucks. My son says I'm really good at making basic shit amazing.

Which makes sense considering I only like simple recipes, with a few ingredients, that don't take long to make. Easy peasy.

So tamper your expectations. You won't find any culinary masterpieces here, but you will find new takes on old classics, and some really fun marketing.

I am the MadBatter.
The MadBatter is me.
With nothing left to lose,
let the mask break free.
