DoorDash!!

A couple weeks ago, I got the crazy idea to see what happens if I set the bakery up as a virtual restaurant on DoorDash. I've never seen a home bakery on a delivery app, but couldn't find anything in the cottage food laws that says I can't. So I figured it was worth a try. I went through the whole setup process only to get an email the next day from DoorDash letting me know my menu doesn't meet their requirements. Such disappointment.

Then out of nowhere, I got a call from DoorDash a few days ago letting me know the bakery was approved and I'm ready to open on DoorDash anytime. Such excitement!

So I've spent this week pivoting yet again to get ready to open on DoorDash this weekend!!! Initially, I'll only open the store on DoorDash when I have my shit together well enough to handle on demand orders and not ruin everything I'm trying to do.

To be honest, I may never get to the point of being fully available on DoorDash. I'd prefer everyone order through the bakery site, but DoorDash is the best opportunity I can think of for free-ish marketing. They'll take a cut of every order but the exposure is well worth it. I suspect part of my struggle at the moment with online conversions is people are sketched out which I totally get. I'm honestly not sure if I'd order from a weird new bakery that popped up out of nowhere, run out of a random chick's shitty kitchen. Hopefully being on DoorDash adds legitimacy to the bakery so people will feel more comfortable ordering.

Goal being...attract new customers on DoorDash that'll hopefully convert to ordering directly through the site. 🤞
